Measure in four places before ordering
- Cabinet opening width — not just the inside wall-to-wall width.
- Usable depth — from the front opening to the back wall or plumbing.
- Clear height beside the plumbing — especially if considering two tiers.
- Pipe/disposal location — note how far each obstruction sits from the left and right walls.

The setup we would use in most small kitchens
Start with a waterproof mat or tray, then choose one primary access system on the side with the clearest plumbing path. Keep leak-sensitive paper goods out of the cabinet floor area, and do not block valves just to gain another few inches of storage.
